From the time she could run, Toa knew where she belonged. Every morning she went to the kitchen of the woman teaching her everything that mattered: knowledge passed from teacher to student across generations, with no institution behind it but the relationship itself. One morning that ended. What remained was a fragment. Toa has spent her life rebuilding that fragment through memory and practice. At last she has a place where it can survive, and someone to teach. Then twelve-year-old Ciar arrives at her farm gate with a letter hidden in his jacket lining. The woman who opens the gate reads it and understands immediately. The institution that shattered the lineage has reached her farm. To protect the boy she has chosen to teach, Toa risks the life she has built and returns to the city she walked away from. Years later, Ciar is still trying to write it down. After everything, she remains larger than the story he can tell. Giver of the Way is a literary fantasy about inherited knowledge, interrupted lineages, and the people who spend their lives rebuilding what was taken from them.
