Lost Children

The small village called Fields, was the type of town where every one knows each other and calls everyone by first name. When one gets their hair cut, everyone notices, either spreads negativity about it, or compliments them.
Though, the closeness of the town's members change, less always saying hello more just smiling and nodding at them.
It started when the villagers realized people were going missing. Not in the normal moving away way, but in the mysterious not saying anything leaving all your stuff at your house. First it started with the hunters, but then slowly even overnight people started going missing. Even people that never set foot into the woods, ever.
People started spreading rumours, a figure at the edge of the woods, too tall, too still, dear antlers. But it wasn't a deer, it stood on two feet and was easily 3 meters tall.
The new boy in town just thinks it's one of those small-town villages.
But his friends that grew up in those woods think otherwise.
They didn't have many adults to ask questions of, most went quiet at the question, others did as if they didn't notice, but the tension made it obvious.
With that, they started staying out late, exploring parts they've never been to. They follow unfamiliar animal tracks, looking for answers. Maybe even risking their lives. Slowly they start finding out things they don't want to say out loud. But if they stay quiet, maybe even all villagers will vanish, then slowly the whole Island.
