SUMMER'S END || DRACO MALFOY

17th August, 1994-
SERENITY BEAUMONT, 14 YEARS
Constantine is currently scratching at my door, so let's make this brief.
Summer's ending, meaning back to Hogwarts for another year.
Fourth year.
Four years of magic. Four years of friendships I wouldn't trade for the world. Four years of believing that kindness always matters, that people can change, and that there's something beautiful waiting around every corner if you just keep looking for it.
Maybe I'm naïve.
Mum says hope isn't foolish if you choose it.
Dad says courage doesn't always look like duelling Dark Wizards. Sometimes it's simply getting out of bed with a smile.
I'd like to believe they're both right.
Although... if I could ask for one tiny miracle this year, it would be for Draco Malfoy to stop acting as though insulting me is a compulsory subject. Four years later, and he still hasn't let go of a comment he made about my dress on the Hogwarts Express when we were eleven.
Honestly, it's becoming embarrassing for him.
Still.
This year feels different.
Maybe it's the Quidditch World Cup.
Maybe it's the whispers that seem to follow the Ministry home with Dad every evening.
Maybe it's just growing up.
Whatever it is, I have a feeling this year will change everything.

I just hope it doesn't change me.
