Elara Veyne has always found comfort in the past. As a history major, she spends her ordinary days surrounded by ancient manuscripts, forgotten civilizations, and the remnants of people who disappeared centuries before she was born.
But when Elara sleeps, history becomes something far more personal.
Since her eighteenth birthday, recurring dreams have carried her into lives she has never lived, through unfamiliar centuries that somehow feel like home. She remembers places she has never visited, knows people she has never met, and wakes carrying emotions and memories that refuse to fade with the morning.
And somewhere within those dreams, he is always there.
A devastatingly beautiful stranger with an unsettling presence and a face Elara cannot forget, watching her as though he has been searching for her across centuries. She doesn't know his name, why he appears throughout her dreams, or why looking at him leaves her with the impossible feeling that some forgotten part of her already knows him.
Then an ancient mark begins appearing beneath her skin, the symbols from her dreams begin surfacing in the history she studies, and the boundary between memory and nightmare starts to disappear.
