IN WHICH, Nikolai Korolev has only ever known pain. Being the only biological child of Bucky Barnes and Natasha Romanoff, his childhood consisted of chapped lips and scratchy sheets. His parents had no part in his creation, both of their DNA taken from them to create a child for Project Daybreak.

Project Daybreak was an attempt to create the perfect soldiers. Extracting DNA from a man in the Winter Soldier program and a Black Widow assasain and raising them from the moment they're born to be their perfect subjects. Hydra scientists theorized that raising children from such a young age will give them more opportunity to shape the soldier into who they should be. They were right. The experiement resulted in three highly trained assassins with no other motive than to kill.

But Nikolai has been feeling different recently, he can't stop looking at the Winter Soldier and he doesn't know why. He doesn't know why he feels a connection towards him and he doesn't know what he is supposed to do with his thoughts.
