After his humiliation at the hands of Marauders and Lily's betrayal in not supporting him, Severus immediately saw her for what she was and left Hogwarts.

He trained, he looked after himself, he discovered new way to cast magic, became powerful in his own right, and lived his life free and to the fullest, while the Wizarding world burned.

He fought old enemies that came after him and even killed Dumbledore and Voldemort, but they had already burned the world around them in their madness one way or another.

He was lucky that the 2 fools carried the Deathly hallows with them and that he became the master of them after defeating them, the Master of Death.

When Death offers him a new life in a new world, Severus takes the offer

Severus Snape reincarnated as Jon Snow, the bastard son of Ned Stark, with no memories of his past life in the beginning, raised in a village by his commoner mother.

But when she dies and his memory and magic awakens, and his father comes to meet him shortly after, Severus is dragged into the mess of the Seven Kingdoms.

But that's all right, he has experience dealing with it.
