They called him charming.

The kind of man who could light up a room with a smile, make people feel seen, and convince anyone he was worthy of their trust.

But no one ever asked what happened to the little boy he used to be.

Born and raised in Peleng, Lobatse, by a hardworking single mother who sold traditional brew to keep food on the table and pay his school fees, he grew up believing that faith could heal anything. Raised in the Catholic Church, he learned to pray before he learned to question.

Then the people he trusted most shattered his world.

An uncle stole his innocence. A priest violated his faith. A cousin blurred the boundaries of love and abuse. While the world saw a quiet, intelligent boy trying to fit in with children from better homes, he was fighting battles no child should ever face.

He wanted to be like the teacher's son. The boys with happy families. The boys who laughed without fear.

Instead, he grew into a man haunted by the child he buried.

Charming. Manipulative. Loving one moment, cruel the next. Desperate to be better but trapped in a cycle of pain he never learned to escape. Every promise to change is followed by another lie, another betrayal, another broken heart.

Because some wounds don't disappear with age.

They grow up with you.

Ashes of Innocence is a raw, emotional journey through childhood abuse, faith, family, masculinity, and generational trauma. It asks a question with no easy answer:

When a broken little boy becomes a dangerous man, where does healing end and accountability begin?
