Orpheus and Eurydice. Tale as old as time, yet where could their legacy remain? One sunny morning at Camp Half-Blood, where even the rain knew better than to cross the magical borders, Hermes arrived carrying something no god should have been holding - a crying infant. Both he and Chiron, camp's activities director, stared at each other, both expressions betraying uncertainty and, of course, pity. "He's gone after her...and this unfortunate soul was left all alone. I had nowhere else to bring her, Chiron," Hermes admitted. "He went after Eurydice." Chiron spoke as if trying to convince himself otherwise. Everyone at Camp had a complicated family situation, one parent was surely almost always absent, but at least they were immortal. So having not one, but two dead parents made Ophelia's life...complicated at least. Ophelia was the inhabitant with the longest stay at Camp Half-Blood which would mean, well, her whole life. Ever since Hermes brought her there when her mother died and her father went to find her in Hades's kingdom, only for him to come back alone and be violently murdered short after by Dionysus's women, so since she had nowhere else to go, she just stayed there. Yet her longevity meant nothing to half-blood supremacists, who'd call her "the tragedy's daughter", such as Clarisse la Rue or...Luke Castellan. If there was one person Ophelia hated more than the camp's director, it was this self-centered son of Hermes. But what happens when the girl who grew up scared of love and her own voice's power ends up on a deadly quest with her sworn nemesis? And what happens when a year later she finds out his darkest secret? Will her worst nightmare become reality? Is her fate so well tied to her parents'?
