"Sometimes, darkness requires something much darker to defeat it." Locked behind the sterile volcanic stone of the Grey-Stone Academy for Moral Refinement-an elite school that claims to teach the insane to be sane-Selah James is considered a model student. To the wardens and the clinical gaze of Dr. Marlowe, she is a compliant doll muted by chemical restraints. They believe the cage has won. They have no idea the executioner is already in the parlor. To the academy, he is Professor Solomon, the cold ethics teacher brought in to lecture on morality. But beneath the academic guise lies the ancient, lethal fire of Malachai St. Germaine-an immortal monster who has infiltrated Grey-Stone to collect a blood debt centuries in the making. He is a predator among livestock, a morally black alpha willing to burn the world to ash for what was taken from him, his partner, and Seraphina. While the other students cower, Selah doesn't seek a white knight. She is a volatile force of nature-a mad hatter capable of tearing the world down by his side, unmoored by the dark joy of the slaughter. When their paths collide, an intense, monstrous desire ignites a visceral, bloody campaign of revenge. Through a sequence of three brutal, sacred blood exchanges, Malachai watches his fragile light unravel into something terrifyingly unhinged. Two-thirds of the way into the dark, the games have officially begun. ⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING: This extremely dark, morally black romance is for mature audiences only. It contains highly graphic content that will make some readers uncomfortable, including: visceral descriptions of physical torture, brutal murder, dismemberment, explicit references to and depictions of non-consent and child abuse, severe psychological horror, and explicit adult scenes featuring strong BDSM elements and blood play. Reader discretion is absolute.

Every year, my town chooses a sacrifice for the demon that "watches over" our home. In exchange for a person from the village between the ages of 17 to 25, the demon protects our village. And because of that pact, our village is protected for the next year, under the demon's watchful eyes. No one knows what happens to those who the demon chooses, but there's a lot of theories about it. One is that the demon eats or absorbs those who are chosen - another, that it kills them. But this year, I'm the one who's chosen. I get to meet the demon I've feared since I was a child, and now that I'm 24, and am considered an adult, I could have left the village behind. But I didn't. Something inside me told me to stay. Now, I'm going to die. I just know it. I can't leave now, or run away, because the town would be unprotected for a whole year, and that's where my family lives. I don't know what to do, but I'm sure I'll think of something. Besides, how bad can this demon be if they're guarding our town?
