The Last walk is a post - apocalyptic survival story. The world ended. Not with a big explosion, but slowly - with poison rain, radiation, and something called " the stalkers ". James is 19 years old. He ' s alone. Everyone else is either dead, gone or turned into something worse. Food is gone. Water is toxic. Cities are empty. And the sky glows green at night. He lives day to day, scavenging in dead towns for cans medicine, and batteries. But he's running out of time. His gas mask is cracking, his food is almost finished, and winter is coming. The book is told like a journal. James writes down each " walk" he takes to find supplies, because he doesn't know which one will be his last walk. It's about survival, but also about hope vs despair. Do you keep walking and risk everything for one more can of food ? Do you trust someone else if you find them ? And what happens when you realise the world isn't as dead as you thought ?
