Michael Jackson is planning to record We Are the World. He already has a star-studded list of vocal talent assembled for the recording. However, there is one more person he wants added to that list, Leora Evans. Leora is a rising singer at the breakout of her career. With three singles already released and a highly-anticipated album on the way, her voice has caught Michael's attention, and he wants her on the record. There is just one problem, she rejected his offer.
Not taking no for an answer, Michael personally persuades her to join the record the night of its production. Once the record has been recorded, the two form a kinetic friendship. Platonic feelings blossom into romantic feelings that they both try hard to suppress. Michael does not know if she feels the same. Leora is afraid of her career being credited to her connection with Michael. Neither of them expected their story to begin that night.
