Shards of Glass

​"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? If my entire life shatters on the pavement and I can't remember the impact, did it actually happen?"

One week ago, Katie "Pidge" Holt woke up in a sterile hospital room surrounded by the tear-stained faces of her family and the shattered, guilty expressions of her best friends. Her vision was blurry, her body was broken, and when they asked her what she remembered, a sudden, violent ringing in her ears drowned out the world.
​She couldn't hear the truth. So, out of pure panic and desperate to stop their heartbreak, she nodded. She lied.
Now back at university, Pidge is trapped in a web of her own making. To her professors and classmates, she's just a clumsy engineering student recovering from a nasty fall. To her friends-Lance, Hunk, Allura, Keith, and Shiro-she is a survivor recovering from a trauma she supposedly remembers.
​But as the prescription pills wear off and the nightmares crawl in, her subconscious begins to fracture. Bleeding hands. Shattered glass. A vicious midnight argument. A car tearing away into the darkness.
