In a age far removed from the one you know, there stood a girl on a distant planet. Hardship was all she knew. The Sith ruled half the galaxy, the Republic held the rest. Elise was born a slave, it was the life she only knew. Until one day, she realized there was more to her than the simple chains she knew.

Bound by someone or something far worse, she must decide.

Is betraying what she believes in her heart, truly freedom? Or just another pair of chains?

People milled past, or rather - possessions - milled by as they went about their day. It was always the same - wake before dawn and straight to work. You were lucky if you got breakfast, you were lucky if you got lunch...you were lucky if you got more than a standard bite of rations for dinner. And heavens forbid you grew too slow...too tired....

The sound of an energized hiss passed my ears - like the buzzing of one of their electro-whips. Head down, Elise...I told myself as I continued my own task. Don't give them a reason to find you as their next victim - like they need a reason.

Anything was reason enough.

Too tired...too weak...too thirsty....

It was rare for those to survive the day.

And sometimes...it was as though the overseers were looking for someone to aim at.

For sport...for fun...entertainment.

They liked watching people suffer.

I learned that fast, hard....

My heart stalled for a fraction of a second as the memories surfaced.

No.... I pushed them back down. But by then, it was too late.

My hands were trembling. I almost dropped the thing I'd been cleaning.

"You look tired, girl," someone said. The words weren't kind - they were twisted as though they were looking for something to play with.
