Hollow Forged

Some boys grow up wanting to be heroes. Kael grew up being told that wanting things was purely inefficient.

He was raised by six people who hated those in power, in a compound that didn't have a name, for a purpose nobody ever got around to explaining to him. He can kill a man four different ways before breakfast. He has never had a real conversation that didn't end in someone staring at him. He does not know what his own face is doing most of the time, and frankly neither does anyone else.

Then the sky cracks open and the world Kael thought he knew stopped making the kind of sense it used to.

Every person who raised him dies trying to stop trying to stop what comes through. Their last words were fragments of a mission they never had time to explain. So now he's seventeen and completely unsupervised. He was trained to kill but it seemed the world had other plans.

Kael is, by any reasonable measure, the most dangerous person on this road.

The only problem is that nobody ever told him why he's on the road in the first place.
