Symbiosis: The Veyra When strange organisms fall from the sky, humanity expects an invasion. They were wrong. The Veyra are not here to destroy the human race. They are here to bond with it. These alien parasites attach themselves to humans, growing powerful tentacles from their backs and awakening abilities based on the personality of their host. A creative mind can create impossible weapons and structures. A kind heart can heal wounds. A strategic thinker can see patterns others can't. But the Veyra offer something more terrifying than power. A voice. Every infected person can communicate with their parasite, forming a bond between two different minds. Some see their Veyra as a partner. Others see it as a monster. And some discover that the line between human and parasite is beginning to disappear. Kai Mercer never expected to become one of the infected. He was just a teenager with a limitless imagination and a talent for creating things no one else understood. But when his parasite, Nova, awakens, Kai discovers his ability could change the future of humanity. Because while some infected fight to protect the world, others believe humanity must evolve beyond its limits. Led by Damian Cross and his terrifying parasite Nemesis, a new enemy rises - one that doesn't want to destroy humanity. It wants to replace it. Caught between humans who fear him, infected people who want to control him, and a parasite that may know more than it reveals, Kai must decide: Are the Veyra humanity's greatest threat... or the next step in its evolution?

'Fight or Flight' is a fanfic based on ChristalScherer's book Upon Wings of Change. I recommend reading it first, as there is a spoiler for the end in chapter 18 of 60. Btw, this is my first fanfic, but not my first time writing. Scientists acquired alien tech, and being without a conscious, decided to experiment on humans. Sela was already out on her own at nineteen. Warren was twenty-three and months away from graduating top of his class. Both were taken, and both were turned into dragonettes. Not long after, the Votec wiped humanity off the face of the planet only to be run off themselves by the Kymari. Banded together with a few other dragonetts, Warren and Sela decided to stay away from the Kymari cities judging the monster-infected forest safer. However, as the years progressed, more dangers arose and chances of survival shrunk. They had to move. Nothing ever went as it was supposed to, and the attempt to relocate came at a high cost. Instead of simply trying to find a new home, Sela was left trying to find Warren while he struggled to make his way back to Earth after being taken. Escript: Was it worth it? Tasha could have been lying or even mistaken about Warren, but the image she shared-it was him. Without a doubt it was him. Sela swallowed hard watching the Kymari enter the shuttle; it was right there, her chance to get Warren back was in front of her, but there was a cost, and she wasn't sure she wanted to pay. She could leave and never look back. It would be that easy. All she had to do was turn around and go, but that meant leaving Macy alone with the Kymari. If her fears were true she couldn't leave him. She couldn't bring herself to move. Indecision kept her rooted to the spot, the seeping cold locking her muscles in place. She wouldn't go back into a cage-but Warren. How could she pass on a chance to get him back? She couldn't lead by herself, she needed him. She wanted him back. Whatever it took.
