I kept backing away from him, circling the desk as he kept approaching, each step of mine getting more shaky.

"Stay. Back." I said it again.

He sighed, as if I were an annoying tune on repeat. "You said that already." His voice coated with mock irritation, rolling his eyes. "You're not very creative under pressure, are you?" He rounded the desk's corner.

My hand shot toward the wine bottle.

He tsked and raised his brows at me. "Now, now. Be a good girl and set that down, won't you?"

I tightened my grip around the neck of the bottle and shook my head slowly. "No, thanks."
