The Four Nations, in an age long before the adventures of Aang and Korra-a time defined by the attempt to forge a single nation: The Great Unification. Across four centuries, seen through the eyes of four Avatars, unfolds the rise, glory, and fall of one of the most ambitious visions in the history of the Four Nations.

Rensho, an exiled Sun Warrior Avatar, embarks on a quest for vengeance against nature-and against his own. Though his story only indirectly concerns the Unification, his absence is what allowed it to begin.
Pema, the warrior Avatar, preserves the Unified Nation for three more centuries. An Air Nomad ascetic, she betrays her rebellious people in order to do what she believes is right.
The most controversial Avatar in history, Sedna began as nothing more than a guardian of the Unification. But when a succession crisis erupts, the founder of the Southern Water Tribe crowns herself the Avatar Queen, abandoning neutrality and claiming political power for herself.
After three centuries of Unification and its undeniable failure, Yun must dismantle its legacy and usher in a new age of separation, restoring the individuality of the Four Nations.
