Nineteen years. I spent every single day doing exactly what I was ordered to do. First it was my mother, then it was the others. They gave me nothing but endless nights of pain and grief.
I took it all. I took it until I broke, convincing myself that this was my destiny-the only thing written for me.
But now? Now the choice is mine. I can drop everything and walk away.
I can build a life far from this hell. But can I really do it?
Maybe not.
Maybe my fate is even worse than my mother's. At least she experienced a fleeting moment of true love with my father.
Can I really sustain a marriage where I don't even know what my husband looks like, how he behaves, or what kind of man he is? I don't even know what it feels like to have someone truly present in your life... because...I don't even know if he is out there breathing, or if he is already gone.

But maybe this is better for me. My mother was destroyed by life, love, and marriage. I will never let that happen to me. I won't repeat her history. This is my chance to break free from my cage. I refuse to live a life suffocating among people. If I have to choose, I would rather marry a dead man than live like that.
