Fifteen years ago, Kai Bardin lost everything in a single night. His family was murdered. His home burned to the ground. And in the chaos, he left behind the boy who had saved his life. Now his sister has vanished, drawing Kai back to the city he swore never to return to and into the path of Kirin, the one person he never forgot, despite trying. Kirin spent fifteen years believing Kai abandoned him. The frightened boy Kai once knew is gone, replaced by a dangerous man with blood on his hands and loyalty to one of the most powerful criminal organizations in the country. He should hate Kai. Part of him does. But when old enemies begin closing in and the search for Kai's missing sister uncovers secrets buried for decades, neither man can escape the bond that still exists between them. Caught between betrayal and devotion, love and vengeance, Kai and Kirin must decide whether the wounds of the past are too deep to heal... or whether some promises survive even fifteen years of loss. "I hate you, Kai. Why did you come back here?"

Every night I hear their howls, the howls of my pack drifting through the wind, finding its way through the dense forest, through the animals scurrying along the forest bed and straight to my ears. I could sit for hours just listening to them communicate with each other, its my favorite kind of music because it reminds me of my family, it reminds me of home. One day I will be sitting out on that hill tilting my head back towards the moon and joining the chorus of howls that echo throughout the night...it's my destiny ... Or at least that's what I thought.
