I remember a cell, stone walls and cold bars. I remember the blinding light as they strapped me to cold metal. I remember the fear of the shocks. Mostly I remember my brother. When we were born we were kept together, two hybrids born into a world run by the scaleless. We were always close, but I was different. An abomination made by science. I could become a scaleless. A thin frail human that could hurt and feel pain. There were upsides to becoming a scaleless. I could use my clawless talons to pick small things up and articulate better.
As we got older, we were separated. They were fearful that my brother and I would fight. Mostly my brother as I was the docile one. It was a cold night that night. The night my life ended. The night my life began. The night that would change my life forever.
