The hardest part of being a monster isn't the hunger, or the hunters chasing you. It's trying to survive third-period biology.

When a thunderstorm hits the sleepy town of Blackwood, local teenager Richard expects nothing more than a ruined walk home. Instead, he finds a bleeding, glowing creature hiding in a dark alleyway behind the local shopping mall.
The creature is Vunnsuxi.
But Vunnsuxi isn't just a monster-they are the key to a forgotten, ancient world buried directly beneath the town. Equipped with a cryptic, glowing map and hunted by shadows far worse than themselves, Vunnsuxi has to find a way back home.
The catch? The entrance is sealed under the town's shopping mall, the hunters are closing in, and to stay hidden, Vunnsuxi has to do the most terrifying thing imaginable: disguise themselves as a human teenager and go to high school.
Now, Richard is stuck helping a creature who doesn't understand human emotions, eats weird things, and has a habit of staring a little too long at the back of people's necks. Together, they have to solve the mystery of the map before the things in the dark find Vunnsuxi-and destroy the town.
