Lyra Lupin had always been two steps behind the Weasley twins.

Two steps behind their schemes. Two steps behind their laughter. Two steps behind George Weasley, no matter how often he slowed down to let her catch up.

Raised between her father's quiet little home and the beautiful chaos of the Burrow, Lyra has spent most of her life with ink on her fingers, a notebook tucked beneath her arm, and a Weasley twin somewhere nearby making it impossible to think.

George has always been particularly good at that.

He is loud where she is quiet. Reckless where she is careful. And entirely too interested in whatever she keeps writing in that bloody notebook.

Somewhere between stolen afternoons, midnight conversations, Quidditch matches, and a war creeping closer to the edges of their childhood, something between them begins to change.
