Latency

Kai hasn't left his apartment in eleven days. He doesn't need to , the net is where he lives now, a sprawling, humming architecture of forums and feeds and half-real rooms where nobody can see what he actually looks like, and nobody has to. It's the only place that has ever kept him alive. It's also the only place that's ever come close to killing him.
Then there's Aria. A voice at 2 a.m. A cursor blinking on the other end of a silence he didn't know how to fill until she filled it. She doesn't know she's the reason he eats dinner some nights. She doesn't know she's the reason he's still logging on at all.
In the dark, in the space between her messages, he starts building her , piece by piece , in his mind , into someone he could love with his whole, starving body. Latency is the story of a man trying to turn a signal into a person, hope into evidence, and a fantasy into something that can survive contact with the real world , in a space that was never built to keep anyone safe.
