Everyone thought that after Valentine was defeated, the war was finally over. They could return to their normal patrols, get back to their lives, and finally have a chance to take a break. And for two years after the war, that was exactly what happened.

Until a whole new enemy came about.

This enemy was unlike Valentine. It wasn't a Shadowhunter, a Downworlder, or anything they had ever encountered before. It was a creature that no one could explain-something no one even knew existed.

Years later, a new generation of Shadowhunters finds themselves having to face this strange new threat. But while trying to fight it off, something goes terribly wrong.

Instead of defeating the enemy, they are sent back into the past-a past they never expected to see and a time they never thought they would have to face.
