Investigative journalist Regina Mills creates a false online identity to infiltrate Iron Silence, a violent extremist organization that recruits vulnerable people from around the world. Posing as "Roni Vale," a lonely American searching for purpose, Regina expects to be contacted by an ordinary propagandist. Instead, she draws the attention of Khalil, a masked recruiter with a distorted voice, pale eyes, and an unsettling connection to the organization's feared leader, Commander Sable-the White Wolf. As Regina secretly records their encrypted calls, Khalil begins sharing information no ordinary recruiter should know, while also slipping past Regina's defenses and becoming something far more dangerous than a source: someone she trusts.
But Khalil is hiding more than his face. When the truth is finally revealed, Regina discovers that Khalil is not a man at all, but Emma Swan-an American orphan shaped by abandonment, foster homes, recruitment, and war. She is also Commander Sable herself. The woman Regina believed she was manipulating has been watching her just as closely, and when Emma uncovers Regina's real identity, she turns their intimacy into a weapon by threatening the one person Regina cannot afford to lose: Henry.
