"Hindi 'yan totoo, Sera..." he whispered, his voice trembling so violently it physically hurt to listen. "I know you. I felt how you held me-"
"You felt what I wanted you to feel!" I cut in sharply, biting the inside of my cheek until I tasted blood to keep from sobbing out loud. "I hate your estate. I hate your quiet life. And most of all, I hate being tied down to you and your family's pathetic expectations. Stop calling me, Leon. You're embarrassingly desperate."
I ended the call before he could say another word, turning the phone completely off and hurling it onto the plush leather couch. I pressed my palm hard against my mouth, stifling a violent, agonizing sob as the loud club music washed over me.
Hate me, Leon, I prayed in the dark. Please, just hate me.
