Like a man who finds a mermaid in human form, captures her and takes her as his wife.

Brendan's first thought when he sees that mysterious woman washed ashore was 'She must be a mermaid.'

Yet, he still covered her with his dry cloak and carried her home.

Not to take her as his wife. And specially not to claim her.

He simply wished to help.
