Her dedication during an industrial attachment at Haiyuan Maritime Engineering Group (海源海事工程集团) earns the company's respect, and they unexpectedly offer to sponsor her research after recognizing its potential contribution to a larger Kenya-China coastal research initiative.

After years of grinding through university life in Nairobi, Nuru finally has the chance to return to Kenya's coastal province, where the sea has always felt less like a place and more like home. As she prepares to begin the most important project of her career, she can't shake the quiet feeling that the ocean is calling her toward something she cannot yet understand.

Shen Yu (沈宇) is a Master's student at Dalian Maritime University with an unusual fascination for the Maritime Silk Road. While others around him are focused on the future of maritime engineering, Shen finds himself continually drawn to the ancient routes, forgotten ports, and histories that once connected China to distant shores across the Indian Ocean.
