Everyone receives a shared soulmate tattoo at the age of 18. This tattoo is a symbol that ties you to your soulmate and it will turn gold once you share a kiss with your soulmate. However, if your soulmate dies...the black ink of the tattoo fades into a transparent color that is only visible to you.

It was raining. The sound of the drops hitting the metal cans and trash that surrounded Feitan was like white noise to him now. Meteor city was a place of trash and ruin where horrible things could happen, and no one would spare a second glance. Children went missing, people were killed, and poverty was common. But Feitan was used to this, and he believed that no matter how far he tried to get away he would always be tied to this place...just like the rest of the troupe. They were all tied to each other in his mind...so why the need of the soulmate mark that had appeared on his wrist. A sharp blade that looked to be di morphed towards the hilt, as if it were poisoned by black ink. Feitan didn't need this soulmate tattoo, he preferred to be alone. It was safer to be alone not only for him but for the troupe. They didn't need anyone else they already had each other. But...why were they all worked up over this soulmate crap. And why would Chrollo dare to even go searching for his other half.
