An original Filipino fantasy series inspired by the magical school fantasy genre popularized by Harry Potter.
Hidden beyond the reach of ordinary maps lies Biringan, the legendary city whispered about in Philippine folklore. Protected by ancient magic and forgotten by time, it is home to Akademya ng Maharlika, the Philippines' oldest and most prestigious school of magic, where young "Hinirangs" from every corner of the archipelago learn to master their gifts while embracing the rich traditions of Philippine mythology and culture.
The story follows four children from different parts of the Philippines: Ari Salvador of Bohol, Isa Avelino of Batanes, Diego Sarmiento of Nueva Ecija, and Amara de Leon of Bukidnon. Though raised under different skies, seas, forests, and fields, fate brings them together within the hidden city of Biringan. There, they are welcomed into four ancient Angkan, each devoted to one of the four elements, and begin a journey that will shape not only their destinies but the future of the Philippine magical world.
As friendships deepen, rivalries intensify, and long-buried secrets awaken, the four discover that an ancient darkness is stirring beneath Biringan-one that predates humanity itself. To protect the magical world, they must learn that true strength is found not in bloodline or power, but in unity, compassion, and the family they choose.
Drawing inspiration from the magical school fantasy genre while celebrating the legends, folklore, history, and values of the Philippines, Maharlika Academy is a story about heritage, identity, friendship, and the enduring belief that magic lives in every corner of the archipelago.

"Goodness Gracious! Why am I here... inside a book? Siguro destiny made it happen para i-pasok ako here ah," I checked my reflection sa mirror nearby and flipped my hair. Haba talaga ng hair ko!
