Everything changes when Athena uncovers hidden records about the experiments that created her and discovers Nick Fury's classified files. Reading that Fury viewed her as "the closest thing to a perfect operative"-a weapon to be deployed even against the Avengers if necessary-shatters the last trust she had in S.H.I.E.L.D. Realizing that both HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D. only ever saw her as a tool, Athena walks away without a word.
