When the Battle of Sekigahara changed the fate of Japan, it also sealed the destiny of a young girl.
In the aftermath of the Western Army's defeat, Maeda Keiji-Kichiyo's benefactor-was compelled to leave her behind and enter the service of another daimyo. With only a handful of loyal companions at her side, Kichiyo sets out to forge a path of her own.
Along the way, she is joined by a grim one-armed samurai, a cunning young kunoichi, a master swordsman, a skilled spearman, a Western physician, and many others. Together, these unlikely allies gradually become an unbreakable band.
Hunted by relentless pursuers and confronted by ruthless bandits and corrupt warlords, they discover that every battle is more than a struggle between victory and defeat. Each conflict becomes a test of honor, compassion, and the bonds forged amid the brutality of the fading Sengoku era.
