At twenty-three, Amamiya Koharu, the youngest granddaughter of the Amamiya family, is already widely known throughout Japan. Her name has been featured among Michelin-starred chefs, her dishes have received countless five-star reviews, and even the harshest critics have fallen in love with her cooking.
But Koharu is tired.
Completely burnt out from cooking just to impress people, she decides to quit.
She travels. She goes shopping. She buys things she definitely doesn't need. She lives her best life-until one night, she checks her bank app and realizes that maybe taking a break wasn't the best financial decision.
Unwilling to ask her wealthy grandmother for money, Koharu decides it's finally time to find a job.
As soon as she steps outside, she spots an advertisement:
LOOKING FOR: HOUSE INSPECTOR
Temporary residency required.
Accommodation provided.
The catch?
The houses are rumored to be severely haunted.
But Koharu just shrugs.
She comes from a family of shamans and has grown up around spirits her entire life.
"Free housing with good pay? And I'm not afraid of ghosts? Sign me up!"
She takes the job, thinking it will be an easy paycheck.
What she doesn't expect is that the spirits trapped inside these houses aren't looking for an exorcist...
They're just hungry.
She thought she was getting a free place to stay while earning enough to pay off her credit card bills.
But instead, Koharu may end up finding the one thing her cooking and perhaps her life has been missing all along.
Because her new customers aren't food critics.
They're forgotten spirits waiting for their very last meal.
