At first, Bucky only knew Mary as Steve's little sister. He cared for her as much as he cared for Steve, but his sights were always elsewhere. That is, until he sees her again years later at an army base in Italy, where he is stationed. Except this time, she isn't just Steve's little sister anymore. She's a nurse now - intelligent, beautiful, and kind. His care for her begins to develop into something more, but the war with Hydra keeps getting in the way. Their time is running out.
Fate brought them together once; will it bring them together again?
Author's Note:
This story begins in the 1940's and will take you on a journey to the end of Captain America: Civil War (or maybe I'll do the entire MCU timeline if I'm feeling frisky). It's quite a long story, but there is always something going on; every chapter is important. This story is a slow-burn filled with tension and teasing; happy moments and...well, if you know the MCU, then you know the fate that awaits poor, handsome Bucky.
I tried to keep most of this story as accurate to the MCU timeline and lore as possible, but I did have to change a few things to better fit this fanfiction.
