Starting from the ascension of Mehmed III, The Ottoman Empire spiraled into absolute madness with bloodshed within the dynasty in Ottoman history.
Murad IV ascended the throne at the age of 11. However Murad IV never absolutely ruled until the early 1630s, until then Kosem Sultan and others ruled for him through him. Non-academics and journalists often refer to Murad IV's reign as the "reign of terror" with too many deaths to count and Evliya Çelebi as many paraphrase refers to Murad IV as "The Bloodiest of Ottoman Sultans" and "The Most Bloodthirsty of Ottoman Sultans." Now is that all an exaggeration? Is there truth to it? Is it lies? What did the people close to Murad IV think of him, not just what the people from the outside thought of him? What was Murad IV like with the people closest to him in comparison to people outside of his circle? Who was Murad IV truthfully? Was Murad IV just a tyrant?
