In the land of Noctur the spirits of Light and Darke begin to die of a mysterious cause, the Great Spirit sends them into bodies of mortals, to keep them alive. Everything changes when centuries later, the spirits are reborn both as females for the first time, things begin to go wrong. A girl named Winter and her twin sister Kris are the new hosts. On their 17th birthdays the begin to fall sick; the same sickness that overcame the spirits. As they fall ill, it is up to them to find the cure, separate the spirits, and begin anew. What they don't know is removing the spirits will kill them.

When Katie visits the graveyard on Christmas Eve to visit her twin brother's grave, she meets a mysterious, yet handsome guy named Ezra. At first, she is startled, but when he tells her that he is homeless, she invites him to come spend Christmas day with her. No one deserves to be alone on Christmas. They begin to drive back to Katie's house when suddenly, the car hits a patch of ice and spins out of control. Although Katie begins to notice supernatural and strange things about him, Ezra helps her through a difficult time after the accident, as she is still processing her brother's sudden death. Soon, they begin to piece together the details of Ezra's death and realize that there is something that they should be doing. There is a purpose to why they have crossed paths. Will Katie be able to help Ezra find justice though, and could there possibly be a way to bring him back?
