Sadness Doesn't Suit a Love Story

"You don't fall in love with a person. You fall in love with the empty spaces. And your imagination fills the rest."

Daphne thought she had finally found the kind of love people write songs about.

But love isn't always enough.

What begins as an innocent high school crush slowly turns into limerence, obsession, codependency, and the quiet fear of losing someone who was never meant to stay. As memories become heavier than reality, Daphne finds herself asking a heartbreaking question:

How much of yourself can you lose before it stops being love?

Sadness Doesn't Suit a Love Story is a coming-of-age psychological romance that explores first love, anxious attachment, heartbreak, and the painful journey of learning to let go. This story follows the stages of a relationship-from limerence and euphoria to grief, healing, and self-discovery.

✿ Author's Note

This novel was written as our compliance project for the English for Academic and Professional Purposes (EAPP) subject.

It is creatively inspired by the emotional themes and atmosphere of Olivia Rodrigo's album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. While inspired by its mood and emotional journey, this story is an original work with its own characters, plot, and narrative.

If you've ever loved someone so deeply that you forgot how to love yourself...

...this story might feel a little too familiar.
