Jaime Reyes is just a normal teenager from El Paso trying to survive high school, help his family, and find the courage to talk to his crush, Ruby. His biggest daily worry is keeping his bicycle running and avoiding the school hockey bully, Cody Pollac. Until an explosion at Kord Laboratories changes everything. Trapped in a warehouse during a dangerous weapon trade, a mysterious, sentient alien super-weapon-the Khaji Da scarab-violently fuses itself to Jaime's spine.
