Accrued Interest

Some matters are never decided in plenary.
They unfold between sessions.
Between late-night caucuses.
Between shared walks along familiar corridors after adjournment.
Perhaps that is how certain interests come into existence.
Not declared.
Not debated.
Not immediately recognized.
Only slowly acquired through time, shared purpose, and unwavering commitment to something greater than oneself.
Long before either of them realized it, what began as a mutual devotion to the public interest had quietly become something far more personal.
Some rights accrue through the passage of time.
Perhaps, so do matters of the heart.
This is an Accrued Interest.
