London, 1967. Before Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant is nineteen, broke and certain that music will carry him somewhere larger. Beatrice Morante arrives with one suitcase and no intention of being found. When she earns a room of her own, she lets him into it, and for a while they build a home out of almost nothing.

Then Jimmy Page begins building a band.

As four musicians become Led Zeppelin, Beatrice follows them from borrowed vans to sold-out arenas and into a world of music, desire, loyalty and excess-where shelter can become dependence, devotion can become possession, and being loved is not always the same as being safe.

She falls for the singer first.
