War is coming.

As dark rumors spread throughout the wizarding world and Lord Voldemort's shadow stretches ever farther, seventeen-year-old Elisabeth Selwyn leaves Beauxbatons following the death of her parents. At the invitation of her longtime acquaintance Draco Malfoy, she spends the Christmas holidays at Malfoy Manor before beginning her final years at Hogwarts.

But behind the ancient walls of the estate, an unsettling silence reigns.

Visitors arrive under the cover of night, only to vanish without a trace. Doors remain locked. Conversations fall silent the moment Elisabeth enters the room. Every glance seems to measure her, every silence revealing more than a thousand words ever could.

And presiding over it all is Lucius Malfoy.

The master of the Manor is cold, distant, and possessed of a courtesy sharper than any insult. He trusts no one-least of all the young woman who has suddenly come to live beneath his roof.
