He turned to leave, but then changed his mind. "Are you all right, Raine?" He asked suddenly.
I nodded, breathless. "Yea." I whispered. For some odd reason, I had the urge to invite him inside.
He looked around again, "I'm not sure why, but I had the feeling something was wrong, and I wasn't sure why, but I just came here."
I nodded, and pursed my lips. "Well,-" I began but he interrupted.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
I looked at him. Everything inside me screamed to tell him what just happened. TELL HIM! TELL HIM HOW YOU FEEL! TELL HIM YOURE MOM JUST DIED, AND YOU FEEL ALONE. ASK HIM TO COME INSIDE!
Instead, I just smiled, "I'm fine Luke. Thank you for checking on me. Not many people are that nice these days." Raine always loved birds, ever since she could remember. The way they were free, and could fly anywhere they wanted.
One night, she's visited by a strange bird, that seems to follow her everywhere.
What happens when the next day, a new boy arrives at school, who cant seem to keep his eyes off her? Something seems off about him, to Raine. Why does he always show up right after the bird?
