"You need to stop interfering with my Case."

"And who are you to order me around?"

Cora tried to walk past him, but in a flash Jungkook seized her wrist. One sharp pull sent her back against the wall. He pinned both of her wrists above her head and gripped her jaw, leaving barely an inch between them.

"Eve..."

His hold was painfully tight, forcing a wince from her, yet she refused to lower her gaze. There was no fear in her eyes-only anger and hatred. Jungkook's expression remained equally cold.

"You have no idea what you're getting yourself into."

"Let me go."

"No."

"This is the last time I'm telling you."

"And this is the last time I'm telling you-back off."

She struggled to free herself once... then twice... but his grip only tightened.

"You're hurting me."

"Answer my question."

"I don't owe you any answers."

Silence settled between them. The dim emergency light cast faint shadows across their faces as they stared at each other, neither willing to look away.

"You won't be able to stop me," Cora said firmly.

"No matter how much force you use... the truth won't change."

Jungkook's jaw clenched. His fingers dug deeper into her jaw, but she never flinched.

"You still see me as nothing more than a suspect."

"Because that's exactly what you are."

His voice dropped to a whisper.

"You judged me long before you knew the truth."

"I don't need to."

"Eve..."

"No matter how much pressure you put on me... my answer won't change."

Several long seconds passed in silence, filled only with their uneven breathing.

Finally, Jungkook spoke.

"I'm not a criminal... nor your enemy, Detective Evelyn..."

For the first time, tears welled up in Cora's eyes and silently rolled down her cheeks. Even then, her cold, unwavering gaze never left his.

In a quiet voice filled with hatred, she whispered-

"...But you are."
