Some love stories are written in the stars, theirs was sketched in the margins of a notebook. Zariyah Kenori Smith comes from a world of old money, luxury, and high expectations. Between running her own business and spending her free time dancing, she has every part of her future planned. Kamari Deshawn Cole has never had that privilege. Raised in a toxic home with an abusive, alcoholic mother, he turned to selling drugs to protect the only person who matters to him, his little sister.

When a class project unexpectedly throws them together, neither of them wants anything to do with the other. Kamari is still dealing with the aftermath of a cheating ex who left him with walls higher than anyone can climb, while Zariyah has no interest in getting involved with a boy whose life is filled with danger. But after seeing her perform at a school pep rally, Kamari cannot stop thinking about the girl who looked fearless under the lights. That night, he fills page after page of his sketchbook with drawings of her, never expecting the girl from a completely different world to slowly become the only place that feels like home.
