Athena Johnson has always known she doesn't quite belong in either of her worlds. In New York, she's the girl who disappears to an English boarding school every September. At Hogwarts, she's the American Ravenclaw with a sharp mouth, a stubborn streak, and a habit of finding trouble despite insisting she prefers to stay out of it. With her closest friends beside her and Cedric Diggory as her seemingly perfect first love, Athena begins her third year believing she has everything figured out, including exactly how much she despises Draco Malfoy. Arrogant, cruel, and infuriatingly good at getting under her skin, Draco represents everything Athena believes she could never become. But as friendships fracture, loyalties shift, and the wizarding world grows increasingly dangerous, their hatred begins developing into something neither of them knows how to control. At the same time, strange reactions to Athena's name, unanswered questions about her mother's past, and secrets everyone seems to understand except her suggest that Athena may know far less about herself than she thought. As Hogwarts grows darker with each passing year, so does Athena's story, blurring the lines between love and obsession, loyalty and betrayal, and the person she has always been and the person she might be capable of becoming. Because some people bring out the best in each other. Athena Johnson and Draco Malfoy seem to bring out the absolute worst.
