GULA (Gluttony)

GULA is an exploration of Gluttony, the deadly sin most often associated with excess and overindulgence. While gluttony is commonly understood as consuming too much food or drink, its influence reaches far beyond the dinner table.

Gluttony can be found in our endless pursuit of more-more possessions, more entertainment, more validation, more distractions, and more comfort. It convinces us that satisfaction is always just one more achievement, one more purchase, or one more escape away, leaving us trapped in a cycle where enough never truly feels like enough.

Yet gluttony is not always visible. Sometimes it exists in the relentless need to fill the silence, to numb the pain, or to consume anything that keeps us from facing ourselves. It can disguise itself as ambition, self-care, or success while quietly teaching us to seek fulfillment everywhere except within.
Gula examines the many faces of gluttony: both the comfort it promises and the emptiness it often leaves behind. Through themes of excess, addiction, escapism, desire, and self-control, these poems ask where enjoyment ends and overindulgence begins-and what happens when we spend our lives trying to satisfy a hunger that was never physical to begin with.

Because sometimes the greatest hunger is not in our stomachs...

It's in our souls.
