Normally I wouldn't picture myself in a car filled with people i hate, but there i was. I distinctly remember the day everything happened. It was a Sunday afternoon, immediately after the meeting and i was in my car with 4 other people; myself, Oren, his girlfriend Amber, Mitch and Sharon. Why oh why i volunteered to drive them that day i'll never know.
I gripped the steering wheel of the car and took a deep breath. The sun had just started to lower, casting gorgeous hues of orange and pink across the sky.
"I can't believe we had to ask her for a lift" i heard Amber mutter under her breath, to which Oren simply responded by putting a hand on her shoulder consolingly.
Seriously? I did her this favour and she's still being impolite? I opened my mouth to say something back at her but i was immediately distracted by a flash in the distance.
It was only for a moment but it was big one. I could still hear Amber in the back of the car mumbling and grumbling to herself so i told her to shut up. I felt bad about it, but i also had a bad feeling about that flash. I quickly pull over the car and step out, my heels making a clink clink on the tarmac. Amber was once again causing a fuss and i looked behind me into the car.
"Be quiet!" I yelled, immediately followed by another flash in the distance behind me. I spun around, my eyes not believing what they were seeing. The flashes in the distance were a bright green, and our nearby town seemed to be on fire. I could just about make out the shape of what looked like a large animal in the town. it picked up a person and ripped them in half. I heard Amber and Sharon gasp, and Mitch gagged into his hand.
That was enough to snap me out of my daze. You see I'd prepared for something like this.
