Fern never expected a place to call to her.

Leaving behind the forests and waterfalls of Oregon, Fern moves nearly two thousand miles away to Juneau, Alaska, chasing an unexplained feeling that the snow-covered mountains and unfamiliar coastline are where she is meant to be.

With a new home, a new art school, and a town filled with strangers, Fern begins building a life of her own. But Juneau is not as ordinary as it seems. Between the mysterious black house perched above the lake, the secrets hidden within the town, and the hauntingly beautiful woman with silver hair and a cowboy hat who seems to belong to another time, Fern finds herself drawn deeper into a world she never knew existed.
