Sword of war

A thousand years ago, the sword Aerendal ended a war and disappeared into the fogs of Vaskanber, a continent no one's ever really come back from. This spring somebody found a map. Now eight kingdoms that spent a generation glaring at each other across borders finally have a reason to stop glaring and start fighting.
Rudy fixes boots for a living. He's seventeen, he buried his father and one brother. He's never held anything sharper than an awl - until a blind woman collapses at the King's table and says six words that somehow point straight at him.
So now he's on a ship with four strangers who don't like each other much, headed toward a continent that's already eating other kingdoms' expeditions whole. He has to keep them from falling apart, fight things that were never meant to exist, and slowly figure out that at least one person in his own party isn't who they say they are.
He promised his mother he'd come home. He just doesn't know yet what that's going to cost him.
