Lyia was abandoned as a baby and discovered by Master Heigl in the woods near a school of wizardry. He felt the magic within her, so he brought her back, and raised her there. Now she is 17, and despite all the power within her, she is still one of the lesser wizards. Her magic is unpredictable, sometimes inaccessible despite her best efforts, and other times rising up and overwhelming her. When a prophecy puts the Royal Family in danger, the Council of Masters is petitioned for magical protection. In a twist of fate, and despite her struggle with magic, she becomes one of the wizards sent to protect the crown. The journey she takes to her new post is just the beginning of the journey Lyia soon finds herself on, where she must face her future by uncovering her past.

For centuries, the small village of Asra has been haunted by a beast of the forest. The beast would come every night and ravish the village. Fifteen years ago, villagers came up with this idea to offer the beast yearly sacrifices of 18 year old virgins. Raven is the village orphan. She is an outcast in the village. She never knew her parents. Her mother was murdered by the villagers and her father is an unknown man. After years of abuse from the villagers she ran away. She went into the deepest part of the forest. There she met the beast. Raven wasn't scared of him. Instead she was intrigued. The beast thought the child was insane. She came every day to see him, chattering about nothing important. Over time he started to warm up to her. Through the years they developed a sort of friendship. But what will the two do when on her eighteenth birthday, the village priest decides that Raven would be the sacrifice for that year? Will the beast kill his friend like he did the others? Or will he free her? ~~~~~~
